A. Brandt Ranch Oak was known for its very western flavor in the furniture they manufactured in the late 1930’s through the 1950's in Ft. Worth, Texas, and here is a great example of that flair. This is the wonderful, heavy duty, arm chair with the leather back with the longhorn/steer head in it -- and this is one of the few chairs that you can actually see the longhorn in the picture! This chair was purchased in December 1951 and used lovingly by the same family for the past 67 plus years. The solid leather panel on the back side of the chair is in good condition for its age. The leather panel with the Longhorn/Steer head does have some staining/discoloration of the leather with a few scrapes and scratches, but is acceptable normal age-related vintage wear.
This chair is in the desirable natural oak finish and the wood is in great condition with no staining, separation gaps, water marks, finish missing, although the original white wax detailing in the grooves is no longer evident. The A. Brandt Company Inc. offered a specific wax in order to maintain the white wax detailing. While the wax has not been available for many years, there are some replacement waxes that would work well, if one was inclined to add back the white wax detailing.
This chair can be used as an office chair, in an entryway, in a bedroom, guest room, and even a living room, and I am sure there are many other uses.
Measurements: 25 inches wide by 32 inches high with a seat area of 16.5 inches by 21 inches that is 17 inches high.
