Introduced in 1950 by the A. Brandt Company, Inc., and purchased by the owner in December 1951, this A. Brandt Ranch Oak Twin Cactus Carved Bed in the natural oak finish has been well cared for. The condition of the wood is very good, although the white wax detailing in the grooves is no longer evident. The headboard, foot board and two wood side rails comprise this twin bed.
The owner of this bed, an engineer by trade, affixed to the inside portion of each of the wood rails at each end additional pieces of wood (approximately 5/16ths of an inch thick, approximately 1-1/2 inches wide and approximately 5-1/2 inches long). These pieces of wood were installed to support a 3/4ths inch thick plywood sheet to further provide additional support underneath the box spring, or possibly a box spring was not utilized and just a mattress. This modification will not prohibit the installation of a box spring and mattress utilizing wood slats, and will most likely keep the box spring from sliding back and forth.
Measurements: Headboard is 40.25 inches wide x 1.5 inches deep x 36 inches high. Foot board is 40.25 inches wide x 1.5 inches deep by 24 inches high. Wood rails are: 6 inches wide by 1.5 inches deep by 76 inches long (excluding the metal hooks on each end).
